The aim of the international autumn course is to make it easier for the new foreign exchange students (Erasmus and other partnership programmes) to settle into their new university and to participate in their studies by offering a preparation course before the lecture period of the winter semester 2021/22. Besides the intensive general German lessons (communication in everyday life combined with elements of cultural studies) students will also be given an introduction to academic communication (techniques for presentations, papers, etc. and specific vocabulary). Furthermore there will be an extensive programme of extracurricular activities to get to know the university, the town of Göttingen and the surrounding area. The course is also open to participants who will not study in Göttingen or who are not participating in an exchange programme ("external participants"). However, external participants need to arrange for accommodation themselves.

The German classes in the mornings will be offered at basic level A1.1, A1.2, A2.1, A2.2, intermediate level B1.1, B1.2, B2.1, B2.2 and advanced level C1.

Precondition for participating in the introduction to academic communication in the afternoons is an intermediate knowledge of the German language. Participants with only basic knowledge of German will have additional general German lessons instead. (→ see structure of the German course).
