The aim of the international spring resp. autumn course is to make it easier for the new foreign exchange students (Erasmus and other partnership programmes) to settle into their new university by offering a language preparation course before the start of the lecture period. Besides the intensive general German lessons (communication in everyday life combined with elements of cultural studies) there will be an extensive programme of extracurricular activities to get to know the town of Göttingen and the surrounding area. The course is also open to participants who don't study in Göttingen or who are not participating in an exchange programme.
Language classes in the mornings consist of 68 lessons (one lesson = 45 minutes). Classes will be held in a classroom / in-person with offering the possibility for online participation at the same time (hybrid format). The language course in the mornings covers one half-level. If there is enough demand, all half-levels (A1.1, A1.2, A2.1, A2.2, B1.1, B1.2, B2.1, B2.2 and C1.1) are offered for both course dates.
The half-level course can get acknowledged as "external academic achievement" and transferred as DaF (German as a foreign language) course/examination component with 6 credit points to the ToR (Transcript of Records).
